Huawei Mate 10 | It’s not a smartphone, it’s an intelligent machine!

Huawei has added some new, intelligent tech to it’s Mate series

When the Hauwei Ascend Mate was first Debuted back in 2013, it had fairly mixed reviews, but that was just the beginning of Huawei Mate. Huawei continued to grow the series bigger and stronger. Today we have the new and so much more powerful Huawei Mate 10 and 10 Pro not so far away. Earlier in this month of October 2017, Huawei had a Mate 10 launch event in Munich Germany. At the event, Huawei launched two of their new flagships that added on to the Mate Series, The Huawei Mate 10 and 10 Pro. Huawei showed off some really impressive and exciting features of the Mate 10, though what I found most impressive about this phone is the Kirin 970!

The Huawei Mate 10 is the first smartphone to be powered by the Kirin 970 processor, which comes with an NPU (Neural Processing Unit) dedicated for AI. Artificial intelligence now plays a huge role in our digital lives and with the Kirin 970 processor, we are taking a huge step into the future of mobile AI. Besides its processor, the Huawei Mate 10 has more impressive features to show of.

Design

Both the devices have some differences to each other with the design. The Mate 10 is 8.2mm thick with a fingerprint sensor just below the screen, which will also act as a home button. The Mate 10 Pro is 7.9mm thick and has its fingerprint sensor around the back. In addition to the Mate 10 series, Huawei will also have a Mate 10 Porsche Design, which won’t be much different to the Mate 10 and 10 Pro besides the design and the storage. These devices will be using USB-C, as expected. The Mate Pro features IP67 waterproofing and an IR blaster, while the Mate 10 gets a headphone jack and a microSD slot instead

.

Display

Both the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro have a glossy glass construction coming with two main colors, mocha brown and pink gold. The main difference between these two devices is the display. The Mate 10’s face is a 5.9″ 2560 x 1440 LCD while the Mate 10 Pro has a 6″ 2160 x 1080 OLED Display, both with small bezels.

Camera

Like a lot of smartphone cameras in 2017, the Mate 10’s camera is amazing. When it comes to smartphone camera, the competition is quite strong. They all bring new innovative features on their camera’s. The LG V30 had the first smartphone camera with a f/1.6 aperture but the Mate 10 is the first to have that aperture on both lenses of its dual camera. Like the P10 and Huawei’s other recent flagships, the camera is setup with a 20mp color sensor and a secondary 12mp monochrome sensor, designed to gather luminance information and detail.

Platform

The Mate 10 and 10 Pro have quite similar specs. They both come packed with a Kirin 970 chipset, which comes with an NPU that is dedicated for AI. The devices run smooth and fast with an octa-core CPU (4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53), running the latest Android, Android 8 Oreo. The Mate 10 is the first phone with a Kirin 970, it’s an intelligent device!

Memory

The Mate 10 and 10 Pro will both come with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The Mate 10 Pro will have an additional variant of 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage and the Mate 10 Porsche Design will be coming with 256GB of storage.

Huawei has developed a desktop docking station similar to the Samsung DeX, though Huawei’s take doesn’t require a dock. You can plug device directly into a monitor with a cable and expect to get around three hours of use in the desktop environment. Huawei’s desktop mode will feature resizable windows and Office support, and more to it, you can use the phone as normal phone while it is connected to the larger monitor. If you already feeling the need to bust out and get one of these devices for yourself, relax! Pre-order will be available on November 6.

  1. I’m actually really bummed about the display…True 4k is nice and all, but several sites were touting an 8k display. I’m pretty sure that’s the reason for what’s being hailed as a “drastic price drop,” too. It’ll only have half the RES. That being said, I’m really intrigued by that Galaxy X Foldable phone. It might really be worth checking out, if they can really pull it off.

  2. Congratulations on having One of the most sophisticated blogs Ive come throughout in a few time!
